Halloween 2019 – What’s hot?
It’s one of the biggest holidays of the year in the UK (not a public holiday, of course, but surely it’s just a matter of time). There was a time not that long ago Halloween wasn’t even that popular across the UK, but with thanks to popular American TV which was imported across the 90’s it’s now one of the biggest events of the year.
For American candy enthusiasts, it’s probably the best chance to get your hands on some top quality merchandise, too! With plenty now stocking up with the tastiest US treats in preparation for swarms of kids turning up at the door looking for the best you’ve got to offer.
Nothing could be worse, too, than giving out the bog standard stuff from Asda if your neighbours are handing out top quality goods, let’s face it; you’re going to look like a cheapskate.
So with that in mind, we’re going to give you a run down of our favourite candies to get in for trick-or-treaters, for a halloween party, or simply the best for making cocktails with!
So you’re going to throw a Halloween party, right? No problem at all. First things first, put some consideration into your costume because in these more enlightened times you’d certainly be well advised to err on the side of caution rather than buying something quite bad taste to get some laughs.
Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk candy. You want something that’s going to impress your guests with some exclusive US merch. We’ve got you covered.
For those guests with a sweet tooth, we’re recommending Jolly Ranchers, particularly our Hard Fruit n’ Sour bags, which we’d recommend buying a couple of because they’re selling quick. These beautiful little American candies are well known enough for your guests to know what they’re delving into, but sufficiently exclusive for them to ask where you’ve managed to get them from.
For those that prefer something a bit more savoury, guess what? Yeah we’ve got you covered there too friend. We recommend buying in the absolute classics Reese’s Pieces, get yourself about 6 little theatre bags and throw them all into a bowl before basking in the imminent glory of serving the ultimate party candy.
Trick or Treaters
Because you’re here checking out our candy, we’re going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not one of those people who closes the curtains and pretends not to be home all miserable, and actually loves dishing out delicious treats at halloween.
Cool, good, just like us then, but what to serve? We recommend for your target audience the Sour Patch range. This is the type of candy that will get everybody talking and wondering what you’ve dropped into their bag. Not only because it’s delicious, but because some of these are so sour, they’ll have your candy fan neighbours looking like they’ve bitten into a bag of lemons.
We do large boxes of the Sour Patch candies and recommend buying in bulk so that you’ll be forever known as the house that serves exclusively awesome American candies!
Whether you’re going to be running your own spooky party or whether you’re going to be attending and want to stand out from the crowd with the drinks you bring, then fear not, here’s some great sodas and drinks to get you started.
Arizona iced tea is the first recommendation simply because there isn’t very many spirits that this delicious sweet drink won’t go with. We’d recommend pairing it with a rum (whilst drinking it responsibly), but again there’s lots of possibilities. It’s sweet enough to pair most things, but also the distinctive and iconic can designs mean that your friends will be asking you all about your drinks choices.
You could, of course, opt for something a bit more pop-culture heavy and bring some Kool-Aid with you, the iconic fruit powder drink. This again can be paired with most spirits but we’d advise that it can go nicely as a Gin pairing, as long as you add some lemon or lime.
